The Blackshop is located at 595 Hespeler Road in Cambridge Ontario. Conveniently located two sets of lights south of the 401 with two entrances from Hwy. 24 also known as Hespeler Road featuring an over sized parking lot, which is easily accessible and spacious for your convenience.

Jan Cerny first opened the Blackshop for business in the fall of 1983. It was the first restaurant in Galt to bring the flavour of a European family owned establishment. The original restaurant resembled an old Blacksmith shop (thus the name Blackshop) serving Continental cuisine. Later the Hobson Street project started almost three years before it opened in August of 92. Once again the Blackshop was the first restaurant in Galt to combine the casual European atmosphere with friendly service and quality food.
The overall design of the current property is focused on offering shelter from the sights and sounds of Hespeler Rd. In keeping with the current locations theme, the landscaping includes a myriad of gardens and trees for your viewing pleasure which encompasses the new cozy patio as well as an outdoor patio bar in the near future.
The Blackshop features a casual wine bar with seating for forty guests. The decor resembles a modern pub found in old Prague. Iron works, wood, and marble give the bar a warm, hospitable feel. The bar offers eight local and European beers on tap. Some of which include Kronenburg, Waterloo Dark, Stella Artois, Creemore, and Grolsh. The Blackshop continues to develop one of the best wine lists in the region and offer many wines by the bottle and by the glass. We also feature television at the bar to keep you abreast of the news and sports.
The main dining room seats sixty guests and features twenty foot ceilings, an inviting fireplace, wood floors and an acclimatized wine cellar room. It offers a combination of both booth and table seating. Also available in this area is "The Kitchen Table". It is a square table seating up to 10 guests and is named as such due to its proximity to, and view of the kitchen.
"The Studio" features paintings by Bianca D'Angelo, with an oversized skylight allowing for lots of natural light. This room accommodates private functions of up to sixty guests.
There are three small cozy semi-private rooms. These feature mostly booth seating, low ceilings, and chandeliers creating a romantic or a private room for business functions. Each of the rooms seats between 12 to 30 guests.
The menu features more traditional European cooking such and includes a list of items which are made in house which includes things such as frittes, baked breads, pastries and desserts. Rack of Lamb, pastas, steaks and fresh fish are always available making every meal memorable and to be enjoyed. The restaurant continues to focus on its foundation of offering a comfortable atmosphere and great food delivered in a casual yet professional way.
Restaurant extended hours are Monday through Thursday from 11am until 11pm, Friday and Saturday’s from 11 am until 12 pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 9:00pm. If you would like to be notified of upcoming events and news, please email your address to alec@blackshop.ca.
